Quiet Emotions

Woman walking alone

As she walks out into the world
The past two days in her head do swirl
Why does she always feel put upon
Why is it that she is always wrong?

For years now she has put people first
Her life on hold, like a drunk she does thirst
But people tell her she’s being selfish
To think of herself at times like this

All she wants is a chance to shine
So her life has interest before it passes her by
The world is a big place that needs to be explored
But stuck in her town, she’s getting bored

She helps her friends and family as equals
But they hold her back so there’ll be no sequel
The odd friend does side with her though
But they’re far from her, not close to home

It’s the ones that she sees on a regular basis
That tell her, her dreams are worthless chases
That it’s best to make a life at home
To never leave the dead town to roam

But one day soon these quiet emotions will snap
She can feel it deep breaking from its trap
Then she’ll show them what she can do
Living her life, she’ll no longer be anybody’s fool
