Here we go again, politicians fighting over money
Power too they squabble over, no more is this funny
The whole of Europe like a pack of rabid dogs
Fighting over a piece of meat, these self made demi-gods

Elections loom over a darkened land
And the people are kept in check by a warning hand
Whilst we listen to the same old lies
It’s no wonder the people wish to run and hide

Nearly lost a country did they
By God would there have been a price to pay
But let it slide have they done
Left our friends in the north with a loaded gun

The knives are out as they fight for control
To dig themselves out of self-made holes
Whilst people quietly seethe inside
being led by a government deaf and blind

The man in the street doesn’t matter at all
Nor the woman who works every hour called
Pennies they earn to pay the bills
Scraping by, the government’s coffers do they fill

The sad truth is that this will always be
No such thing as any land of the free
For we’ll always be slaves with taxes to pay
This will be so until the end of days

Bills constantly rise through the roof
Not enough left to buy healthy food
Nor is there to keep homes warm
The elderly wonder if they’ll again see dawn

Silly threats do they make against others of their kind
They line their filthy pockets, to us they pay no mind
So we, the little people, the slaves of their system
Will do as we’re told by the so-called leaders of men

Unless of course we find a way to live together
Harmony and compassion, no war against sister and brother
Time to wake up and listen to us all
For far too long you’ve taken us for fools

Have they learned nothing in our recent past?
Or even further in history if they care to glance?
But they don’t care what has gone before
For selfish needs is what they do it for
