What Kind of Drunk is He?

Drinking his pint, staring out of the pub window
wondering what he has done in the past
Has he made a difference in this life?
Who does he ask?

What kind of drunk is he?
What kind of drunk is he
when he can see with eyes closed?

People walk past ignoring him as he sits alone
thinking what a strange and sad case
Yet if only they would talk, If only they had known
they wouldn’t criticize his downtrodden face

What kind of drunk is he?
What kind of drunk is he
when he can see with eyes closed?

He people watches, seeing them rush through
air kissing in their false empty way
They’re lost and really haven’t a clue
eager to please they fast waste away

What kind of drunk is he?
What kind of drunk is he
when he can see with eyes closed?

Light turns to darkness, people come and go
their vacant souls rush home to empty rooms
As he sits to watch more of the same, reaping what they sew
smiling his secret smile, knowing all too soon

What kind of drunk is he?
What kind of drunk is he
when he can see with eyes closed?

The fickle, the insecure, the lost and lonely
all in need of security and love
But they sell out to achieve this dream slowly
in the end they kill the dove

What kind of drunk is he?
What kind of drunk is he
when he can see with eyes closed?
One that truly has their heart and soul open
