Last night he slept with thoughts in his mind
The past firmly implanted in his soul over time
But last night for the second time in his life
He had a strange dream, that almost made him cry
He was visited by his father but not as he used to look
For in life he was a short burly man, powerful to book
Instead he came in the guise of a beautiful bird
A message to deliver, This was absurd!
So there he was in the land of dreams
Talking away with a bird, fluffing its feathers it seems
All yellow, big and proud he so came
To tell him something, to ease his pain?
He was transported back years gone by
To his fathers old flat, although different, he sighed
The bird, his father, perched on his shoulder
Told him all would be well, just be bolder
The man apologised to his father for the past year
He said not to worry, he sheds no tears
For where he is is full of happiness and delight
It’s his time now the bird says to him, learn to fly
So the man awoke with a clear image in sight
He must stay on this path he set on and fight
To make his father, the bird in his dreams
Proud of him and do all he can to believe
