*The following is not about one group, but all who strive for equality but fail in their cause in the end through pushing those aside who they have tried to gain as allies in their cause.
I’m not interested in
your colour
Your Sexuality
Your politics
Your parades and banners
Your closed-nit groups
Or your disdainful looks
Or paranoid ideas
I’m only interested in
your intellect
Your dreams and desires
Your humour
Your humble heart
and quiet ways
In your equality for all
Not just one
I want a friend not
an enemy
An intellect to cross
swords with in easy banter
To meet as friends
and to leave as twin spirits
A friend at the end
of the phone when in need
Our friendship is not
Parades and banners
Neither is it a demonstration
It is the product of
mutual respect
Not unbalanced equality
Fought through so-called
in-equality
It’s not just parades and banners
just simply bad manners
By those who are brought up in ignorance
who do no not how to dance
I only wish we could all song
the same tune
Maybe then there would for us
all be room…
