Rabbit in the Headlights

Rabbit in the Headlights

Caught in the act
doing something that shouldn’t be done
Like a rabbit in the headlights
frozen to the spot, wide-eyed

Oh what a fool they’ve been
what were they thinking?
If only they could turn back time
hindsight is a frustrating thing

The foolish things we do
the games we continue to play
Why do it when we know the consequences
why fall in the path of the headlights?

Some of us never learn
this the way it’s always been
Will be forever more
as the headlights thunder down to you…
