As she tucks into her meal
she wonders how it’ll make her feel?
For down she’s been this past year
food for thought and all should be clear?
She thinks of the mistakes over twelve months
the decisions she made, the leaps and jumps
All she did and all she didn’t
all the paths to her that were hidden
She sits with her meal almost eaten
determined this time not to be beaten
She’ll complete that course and do another
and won’t this time be so smothered
For too long she’s been a slave to all
ignoring that far off distant call
Whispering to her from a future yet to be
in a place of pure happiness yet to see
So herself first she must put
like long ago she had should
No more slipping through the net
memories she would rather forget
The meal finished, she orders a dessert
suddenly keen and very alert
Way too much to do and see in this life
excited she is, she’ll damn well give everything a try
I'm a thinker, listener, a "question's pretty much everything" type of person. A seeker of knowledge, always restless, yet seeks the calm in life.
I love writing in all forms and am in the process of completing a number of ongoing projects. I love the craft of writing and the possibilities it holds. A magic carpet through the mind. I love pretty much all creative arts, music, film and theatre the leading ones.
Born in Hertfordshire in England, my family Irish, Welsh and English, I currently reside in Edinburgh, in Scotland. I'm drawn to coastal and mountain regions where I like to go to think and draw inspiration from. Ireland is a place that's dear to me, and I try to get back to see family and friends as much as possible.
My interests are wide and broad, too many to mention here, but history, archaeology, criminology, music and film are just some of those things I love.
I hope you enjoy my ramblings on here as that's what they are really. I'll let my fingers do the ''talking...''

Is it wrong that part way through, when I realised the excellent, almost backwards word structures you’ve used, my mind suddenly switched to reading it in a Yoda voice?
Of course it doesn’t change how good this poem is, but certainly added a little ‘lol’ness to it! 😉
Why thank-you Ironman! That means a lot coming from you!
Yeah, I overdosed on Star Wars as a kid and Yoda always lingers bout somewhere in the shadows! 😉
