The children won’t go near the cave
for legends abound of what come may
In the cave of the druid Merlin
of which there are many stories about him
That he controls a great beast
on the blood of enemies does feast
And if you look closely at night
you can see two orbs of light
A rumble of thunder can be heard
at Merlin’s cave much does stir
And if you look out to sea
you may see something you can’t believe
For the fog rolls in thick and fast
surrounds the cave and land as it does pass
For this is the dragon’s breath
and for many it spells only death
So be warned ye who go there
keep away and of Merlin beware
For he’s Ynys Prydein’s last defence
in Tintagel he’ll raise the dragon again
*I have left some links for anyone interested in Tintagel and the legend of Merlin there as well as all things Arthurian. It is a magical place and I long to go back there in the summer. The castle sits atop high above the cave. It is a beautiful and magical place…
