Summer’s End

Nights now drawing in
A cold nip in the air
Autumn leaves soon falling
Summer’s end in which we stare

Almost through another year
What a year it’s been
Split down the middle, I’ll shed no tears
On what I should’ve seen

In autumn I’ll succumb to its embrace
Its darkness and different warmth
It sheds the old for a new face
Leaving memories like old haunts

I can’t wait for summer’s end
To leave behind the old
In autumn’s colours I’ll blend
And shield away from the cold

Like a leaf falling I’ll start again
Planting the seeds for new growth
I’ll fight onwards with furious defence
No matter where I now go, this my oath
