Heard the news on the TV
Through sleep filled eyes
Couldn’t believe the screen
Tears over Denver I cried
All were in a cinema that night
Watching a film of a superhero
Then they were taken by fright
A nutter came to deal his blow
Heard the news on the TV
Through sleep filled eyes
Couldn’t believe the screen
Tears over Denver I cried
Twelve were taken they did say
Fifty more were injured too
Confused and shock did reign
As this madman did let loose
Heard the news on the TV
Through sleep filled eyes
Couldn’t believe the screen
Tears over Denver I cried
A hail of death did strike
That late and sad night
No-one understood, didn’t try
They just wanted to take flight
Heard the news on the TV
Through sleep filled eyes
Couldn’t believe the screen
Tears over Denver I cried
The sadness of it all will always be
Memories of that day ingrained
Guns sadly available in the land of the free
Banning them is the only way
Heard the news on the TV
Through sleep filled eyes
Couldn’t believe the screen
Tears over Denver I cried
For if this continues
There’ll be many more
Too many of these people loose
That care not for America’s laws
Heard the news on the TV
Through sleep filled eyes
Couldn’t believe the screen
Tears over Denver I cried
Ban the gun, stop the problem
Stop these madmen now
Maybe will it stop then
In every city, in every town
Heard the news on the TV
Through sleep filled eyes
Couldn’t believe the screen
Tears over Denver I cried
Tears over Denver tonight
Tears over Denver
Sad tears the world over…
