Slow Burner

Posted on May 7, 2012

Thinking on all he wanted to do
All he said aloud
Weeks turned into months
Then into years
But stayed still did he

He hasn’t helped himself
This he knows
Taken a battering many times
No path was he shown
Lost opportunities went away

Then one day one came his way
Huge it was to him
But dithered did he
Trying to do the right thing
Time did slip away

A sadness for things gone
Stories never to be told
But he knows there are some to come
If he’ll take the risks
Those that he fears

A slow burner he has always been
Taking time deciding
Or just being lazy
But when he decides on something
Nothing on this earth can stop him
