Trapped

The man takes a trip to his local zoo
Penguins waddle, Exotic birds sing a tune
As he wanders from cage to cage
His blood still boiling with rage

No work does he have and bills to pay
Calls does he get chasing debt everyday
His head above water only just
He does what he can. what he must

In a vicious circle he finds himself
He screams to anyone who will help
No-one listens, no-one cares
He feels like pulling out the last of his hair

So now he walks around the zoo for calm
Where he feels a peace, no bells alarm
Lions laze in the sun
Cubs play around, having fun

Elephants trundle away, trunks swinging
Peacocks nearby, colourful feathers spreading
A rhino does nothing but munches away
Like the giraffe chomping at its jaws at hay

The chimps jump to and fro
Making him smile, these cousins we know
Tigers roar as they prowl about
Dolphins and seals splash around

But when he comes to the cage of wolves
He sees their sad eyes as they pad about on huge paws
They howl as one to the sky above
Trapped they are, no freedom they love

He feels like them as he looks beyond the wire
One meets his eyes, stares with amber eyes of fire
Then the link is broken in an instant
His problems are no gone, they’re distant
