Well, where do I start? It’s easy to ramble on about yourself, about all your likes and dislikes, about inspiration, about dreams and desires, so I’ll give a little bit here and let the blogging do the rest.

I’m based In Edinburgh, and I love writing, hence this website, which I will publish some of my work on. I’m into all forms of the craft of writing and it fascinates me how you never stop learning with this type of art form as times passes, but the same can be said about many a thing in life I suppose.

I’m currently writing more than one novel, which include adventures for children to enjoy, two different crimes books, set in two diferent era’s, a time travel series in protest against what’s happening over in Doctor Who, and a few others besides. I just never seem to find the time to concentrate on them sadly. Just a little every so often, but they will be finished very soon and sent off to get published I hope, when I find an agent, otherwise it will be Kindle; whichever comes first.

I have over 200 ideas for short stories, novels, poems, TV and theatre which grows every week but so do a lot of people’s I guess? Mine I hope will stand out from the rest but we shall see.

I write a lot of poetry/lyrics (currently over 1500-2000 on here and elsewhere), as well as short stories.

Inspiration wise I remember the brilliant horror author Shaun Hutson telling me he never reads other people’s work, for their ideas will leak into his, but he’s an avid film buff so he has a film-like quality to his work.

Mine comes from what I see around me, in the news and in the people I meet or see across a room. Observation is a very important skill in the craft of writing. Stories are everywhere if you know how to look. Others come from my dreams and nightmares. I keep a pad by my bed just in case…

One of my dreams is to write for Doctor Who (over 100 ideas written down at time of writing this and growing weekly) and to also do the ultimate King Arthur story for book, film and TV, for I think a realistic representation of him and the time has not yet been done although John Boorman’s Excalibur was a stunning film.

I have also interviewed and reviewed Amy MacDonald, the Scottish folk rock singer/songwriter for Q Magazine online which you can view here. There was also a written piece but it has been removed as have everyone else’s who did likewise; just leaving the video sadly. I admire her so much and as you can see from the interview which was filmed, I was quite nervous, but it was my first interview ever of someone in the public eye, so I hope you’ll forgive me how I come across. Hopefully it won’t be my last. I got the taste for it after this.

I am also published in an anthology for the Wolf Warriors: The National Wolfwatcher Coalition which is available to buy from Amazon in the UK and US as well. The money goes to helping protect wolves; a misunderstood animal that I have been fortunate enough to have walked with at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust. I hope to see them in the wild very soon.

As I said at the beginning, I’m into a wide range of things so here’s a short list of some of them: Philosophy, Archaeology and History, The Arts, Music, Travel, Wildlife (Wolves are my passion), Food and Drink to name a few things that I shall write about in this blog. Oh and Guinness and Whiskey/Whisky which are art forms in themselves!

”Take me to the mountains and the coast and you’ll see the real me, put me in a normal town or sprawling metropolitan city and you’ll see a shadow.”  Quoted by me.

So there you go, a basic About Me section that went on long than I anticipated. I hope you enjoy what I write and if you don’t, thanks for looking in anyway. I’ll be writing about everything and anything that catches my attention! Go chase your dreams as I am now chasing mine and don’ t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Okay enough of the gibbering! Let’s start blogging and putting the world to rights.

Enjoy the ride!

  3. Wow, I stumbled across your blog at random, and I’m very impressed! Your poems are beautiful and engaging and who doesn’t love a good rant? As a young aspiring writer, I can only look to you for inspiration. Thank you very much, I look forward to reading more of your blog.

    1. Thank you very much for your very kind words. Everyone has this in them I believe. It’s just getting your work out there to get noticed. Keep yours up and never look back. It’s a good outlet. I didn’t start out doing poems intentionally but they have just built up to a huge number (around 750 on here). I was trying to make it an all round blog with stories and reviews and so on which I’ll need to build up more of too.

  4. Most happy to have been introduced to your work via Howling for Justice.I tried to leave a comment on facebook but the small circular twirling color spectrum simply kept me at bay..then it vanished.your page, that is.I appreciate your sensitive thoughts and well chosen words.i also hope to keep reaching folk through the arts. Painting is my medium, perhaps check out my website ..Thank you for your courageous efforts to help open people’s eyes. Most do not want to see the truth…and yes.it is hard to look, but in my estimation ,the only way for change to happen…. but believe me,i hide as much as the next..working on that, hey!
