Many Layers

There she is, Cara Reid
Shopping for things she doesn’t need
But what she wants more than anything
Is to smile again, a great big grin

Always a shoulder to cry on
She’s there listening to others wrongs
But does anyone listen to hers?
Do they feel her emotions stir?

She has many layers that no-one sees
For if they did they may well flee
For inherently selfish they all are
From them she sometimes feels very far

She refuses to talk much about her life
Far too long she’s learnt to hide
She wouldn’t know how anyway
Who would listen long enough to stay?

So she continues on like a ghost
While others invade as if she the host
Oh how she wishes for freedom in some way
But always an ear she’ll be for them to have their say
