A warm sticky day
greets many a soul
The sun beating down
on lazy days
A woman sits
under a tree
Willows drinking from
the canal

She sits reading
a book
Lost in its story
on an adventure
The shade cools
her brow
The branches sway
in the breeze

Calming her soul
resting her mind
Relaxed and
at one with her surroundings
She slowly drifts
to sleep
Her book falling
in her lap

Lost in weird and
wonderful dreams
Under the willow
tree
The tree protects
her
Shields her from
the outside world

As she dreams of
heroes
Saving her from
a tyrant’s wrath
She dreams of mad
hares
Fighting alongside
heroes all

And her battling
monsters
Slashing away at
oncoming darkness
She is in his
arms then
This hero she
loves dear

And just as they
kiss
She awakes as
a boat goes by
The wisps of the
dream going
The man on
the boat familiar

She picks up her book
and walks away
From under the
willow tree
As the trees
sigh in the breeze
Waiting for another’s
dreams
