Heaven’s Wings

She stands by the grave
where tears do fall
landing gently
on the lawn
As the priest
softly talks
Words far away
her feelings wrought

She thinks on him
in that box
Why he is there
or with a so-called God
He should be with
her and family
As tears flood
down in memory

And then it’s over
and away they go
A feeling of numbness
on faces does show
Just shadows and images
exist
Oh how they feel
lost and him they’ll miss

For forever more
On heaven’s wings
he has flown
In memories and hearts he’ll to them sing

For Kirsty
