Winter in the Arms of Autumn

Darkness creeps in unnoticed
by the autumn sun
Who’s playing around
and having fun
The suddenly cold it gets
as people wrap up from the cold
Winter in the arms of autumn
has won this battle, taking hold

Squirrels run for cover
hiding in the trees
Wrapped up snug and warm
covered with bushy tails and leaves
As hedgehogs all groggy
try to sleep winter out
Bonfires alight
sending them scurrying around

Winter fights for control
Over autumns power and grace
Falls into her arms
showing a friendly face
But now she has control
This sister most cold
Winter in the arms of autumn
is a dangerous femme fatale to behold
