Outside

He watches his niece
Happy as always
Almost two
Playing, chatting away
She’s happiest
Outside
Aren’t we all
Watching planes fly

To be outside
By the beach
Watching the sea
Within reach
The heat
Of the sun warms
Your soul
From dusk till dawn

Outside in the
Mountains
He would rather be
Not inside doubting
To be up high
Looking out
At that panorama
With the gods he’d shout

To be away from
Dust and grime
Away from social
Niceties and crime
To be free from
Constraint
Outside in open
Spaces, a life to paint
