Lights Out

A cold summers month comes over him
It’s time to go, to pay for his sins
Eighty summers he has had on this earth
He wonders if anything, what has he learned?

It’s lights out as the reaper comes
Lights out as this life is done
Into a new realm to be reborn
Forever learning at this university we’ve been before

Twenty-five years passed her way
Then along came a bus one winters day
If only she’d been looking but on her phone
Now she’s left a child all alone

It’s lights out as the reaper comes
Lights out as this life is done
Into a new realm to be reborn
Forever learning at this university we’ve been before

A car crash on the motorway
Someone falling asleep after a long day
A wrong turn down a dodgy street
We all one day the reaper meet

It’s lights out as the reaper comes
Lights out as this life is done
Into a new realm to be reborn
Forever learning at this university we’ve been before

It’s what you do in life that counts
Doing all you can to do with what’s found
Making good with what you learn
Before you fall, crash and burn

It’s lights out as the reaper comes
Lights out as this life is done
Into a new realm to be reborn
Forever learning at this university we’ve been before
