Death of the Seaside

The rain falls on a July day
Hitting the pebble beach
A few walkers with dogs at play
Death of the seaside happiness breached

The sea seems dirty and rough
Angry at the sky and the rain
Today it feels no love
As it drowns in more of the same

The rain falls on a July day
Hitting the pebble beach
A few walkers with dogs at play
Death of the seaside happiness breached

The pier sways in the wind and strong sea
A few hardy souls fight against it
Determined to have a good day, shan’t leave
Blown by the wind, they laugh in fits

The rain falls on a July day
Hitting the pebble beach
A few walkers with dogs at play
Death of the seaside happiness breached

Deckchairs tied up, locked away
Some shutters down against the gloom
No-one out to socialize and play
As dark clouds gather and loom

The rain falls on a July day
Hitting the pebble beach
A few walkers with dogs at play
Death of the seaside happiness breached
