Ever get the feeling you’re an ant?
Working in unison for the big man
Doing as you’re told, slaving away
Never finding time to live and play

You live to work all your life
Forgetting to work to live, I sigh
So sad that this is the case
Like a disease it spreads across the human race

Tighter and harder life becomes
Because politicians can’t do their sums
So we the ants pay the ultimate price
We the ones making the sacrifice

Before we know it life is over
An ants life does us smother
Forgetting what’s important in all things
Never finding happiness in all that it brings

A few ants escape the nest
Feeling different from all the rest
But some go back because they can’t cope
Whilst others like me live in hope
