Hungry Henry

Eyes big as pies
He looks to the skies
”Thank you God he says
Hungry Henry’s happy today!”

He devours what he sees
Rubs his belly then drinks tea
Settles down for a little nap
The cat purrs away on his lap

A growl wakes him from his sleep
It must have been all them sheep
For counting them made him rumble
Now it’s time for some apple crumble

An hour later he wolf’s the lot
He could’ve carried on, but stopped
So for a walk by the beach he goes
The smell of fish wafts under his nose

So to the chip shop he went in
Ordered cod and chips with a happy grin
Salt and vinegar and a pickle too
Oh how Hungry Henry loves his food!

He gets home just past nine
Sleepy he is, must be the wine
A bar of chocolate or two he does have
Then off to bed, dreams to be had

As he drifts off he thinks on breakfast
The fry-up he’ll have but cereal first
Washed down with orange and tea
Hungry Henry is as happy as can be!
