Checkmate

He smiles as he walks away
But anger is in his heart this day
People play their games with him, no reprieve
But a trick he always has, ready, up his sleeve

He’s tired of all the fights
Always is he wrong, not right
He does deeds that are good
Like he was taught and always should

But as always he’s pushed too far
His anger then burns brighter than any star
It takes a while to get like this
It usually takes months, even years

In his fury, he nearly took off
Packing a bag and essentials, out in the frost
But after a while, he did calm down
His anger did fade into a frown

Now doubt rings in his heart
Why do people have to start
Leaving him feeling this way
Ruining his week, not just his day

Why don’t people think before they speak
Putting all in with their size ten feet
Leaving hearts and minds angry and sad
Better days should always be had

So checkmate as it stands
No moves as yet to be had
Checkmate it’ll always be
Wondering what the next move will be
