This week is remembrance week
For those that have fought in wars
Since world war one it’s peace we seek
Blood-lust and death no longer in our souls
There are some out there who hate the soldiers
For all they are and do
But at the end of the day they are peace holders
To protect the likes of me and you
I’ve already seen so much anti poppy sentiment
Across the network social
The past with them never forgot, they discriminate
Against a nation whole and local
To me, in this day and age, this is a sad way to be
Problems cannot be solved
Or a people set free
Or a country, bad governments dissolved
The hate has to end somewhere and it will someday
I hope and pray for it to be
For we, the modern people move far away
From those days, our own lives we see
Causes are fought for, lost and won
The people generally forgot
Politicians pockets are lined
While the normal people and soldiers can rot
Whether Ireland or the middle east
Or any war past and present
The people who have fought on all sides
Should have learned a valuable lesson
That war is cruel but necessary at times
All sides suffer loss and sadness
But life goes on, bills to pay, mountains to climb
Let’s not lose ourselves in hate, it’s madness
Remember the soldiers, their families and innocents
Lost to religion, politics and blinkered vision
Forget the hate, the bitterness of those with clouded judgement
For they walk the path of hateful decision
