The Broken Spirit

The call comes to him from a lost soul
Childlike, confused, paranoid, no glow
She’s alone in a world that neglects her
The past she thinks of, lost in its blur

He tries to understand her life so far
What she’s been through, what’s been inferred
All he knows is that she’s had a bad time
It breaks his heart as she’s so kind

But sometimes it’s too much for him to take
He can’t watch her like this, his spirit will break
No-one left now to be by her side
Of the two she has left, one does hide

Three others exist but taken away a long time ago
Now just a dream, she loves them so
She wonders where they are and what they’re doing
Hoping to see them one day, she never stops believing

He hopes and prays that this shall be so
So her heart will mend and her spirit will grow
He feels a little selfish in his need to be away
Far from the problems of her yesterday’s

He’s not strong enough to deal with her mind
Or all that has happened to her unkind
He has enough in his own dark heart
He needs to be free for a fresh new start

He wants to mend her her broken spirit
But it’s his that’ll be broken if he does it
So away he must go to be free and fly
His broken spirit can mend and soar high
