Winter’s Embrace

So winter fights autumn in a race
It hits the country slap in the face
Knows not why it has come out early
But damned if it’ll sleep so surely

Winter will grab its Icy fingers fast
Around your hands it will clasp
His grip will be strong and tight
He’ll show you all his might

Autumn though won’t give up this brawl
For it’s her season this windy fall
She’ll give as good as she gets
Her wrath will she show winter yet

The seasons are confused as they do battle
Inside our homes our teeth they rattle
One day it’s warm, the next it’s cold
This fight of the seasons, a story of old

But winter’s embrace will have his day
He’ll shorten autumn’s life this year, he say’s
She was out early this year
For her he will not shed a tear
