Jubilee

So five days of celebrating
is over
for your sixty years
of reign
Not even the rain could
dampen spirits lower
or the so-called republicans
who Britain they feign

One and a half million
people turned out today
to celebrate all you are
and have done
To join in the festivities
and play
and to share in all the
goodwill and fun

Three more years you
have to go
to equal Queen Victoria’s
reign
You now have nothing the
world to show
Even by those who you
they hate

I for one and proud of
you and all you stand for
Misunderstood by many on
our island nation and beyond
By the uneducated and the
ignorant, those who cause pain
These fools who pretend to love
Britain or so they do claim

I’m not religious, hate
politics with a passion
Patriotism is not my thing,
dangerous I believe it is
But today I’m proud of my
island and of its people
The togetherness over the
past few days I shall miss

Back to misery and the greyness
of life we now go to sadly
As our hearts filled sink
once again
Back to the false pretence
Back to us behaving to each
other terribly
God bless you our Queen for everything
