Empty Shell

An empty shell he does sit
Reality hasn’t yet hit
This he knows he doesn’t want
His future does continue to haunt
For his heart belongs elsewhere
He looks to the skies blue to stare
Imagines himself far away
He sheds tears for yesterday

For an empty she he’ll always feel
If kept a prisoner still
In a place he feels apart
This soulless place rips his heart
A shadow he is of who he should be
Gaoled in a hell trying to break free
He keeps the faith though, he has to
In doing so he feels he’s nothing to lose

This empty shell shall soon be free
Filled with life as meant to be
A new person he’ll finally become
Living under a smiling sun
