Snow Falling

The snow it descends in a heavenly flow
Thick and fast it covers all that grows
Trees and fields a blanket of white
Wildlife huddle in burrows tonight

Lights glow bright in homes wide and far
No venturing out for most by foot or car
In the warmth with television lights flickering in the dark
We snuggle up in fleeces like animals in the fields and parks

Looks like a white Christmas is coming our way some say
Smiley faces building snowmen in the cold glow today
Little cherub faces laughing in wonder at what they see
Throwing snowballs at family and friends, at the squirrel in the tree

The country comes to a standstill in unity and smiles
A few grumbles here and there but all talk across the miles
The snow is a blessing as well as a nightmare
A healthy respect we all but so share

Little footprints left after in the white wonder
But it falls again the playfulness under cover
The snowman he gets fat with all the snow he eats
Until the sun comes out to waste away his treats

Then the fun goes and we return to normal
Heads hung low and all being formal
We hope the snow returns again very soon
So we can play, smile and throw snowballs in tune
